Just gorgeous sheet music
This exhibition was on display in the Talbot Family Treasures Wall from 22 March 08 - 27 July 08. The following is an excerpt from this exhibition.
The State Library of Queensland holds one of Australia’s most extensive collections of sheet music. Over 100,000 items encompass the Georgian to modern eras of classical and popular music for voice and piano. The Just gorgeous sheet music display offers a broad introduction to the sheet music collection, and highlights some of its treasures from the Georgian (1714 – 1830), Victorian (1837 – 1901) and Edwardian (1901 - 1910) periods with beautifully illustrated covers. The display explores the history of music publishing and cover design, and also features some theatre programmes of the era.
