Adaptive Blue/Green Structures to Respond to Climate Change: Belgium, United States and Vietnam.
Hear from international guest Kelly Shannon (USA) at the first session of the 2018 UQ Architecture lecture series.
Kelly Shannon’s work has largely focussed on the evolving relation of landscape, infrastructure and urbanisation. In 2010, she co-authored (with Marcel Smets) The Contemporary Landscape of Infrastructure (NAi Rotterdam). She is co-editor of the book series UFO: Explorations of Urbanism (Park Books, Zurich) and was editor of the Journal of Landscape Architecture (JoLA) from 2010-15. Kelly is currently teaching urbanism at the Department of Architecture, University of Leuven (Belgium), having previously taught at the University of Colorado (Denver), Harvard’s GSD, University of Southern California, Peking University and The Oslo School of Architecture and Design amongst others.
OSA/RUA (Research Urbanism Architecture) is an academic-based urbanism at University of Leuven that deliberately addresses pressing contemporary issues, necessitating profound transitions.
The annual UQ Architecture lecture series brings together forward-thinking architects and provocateurs who are engaged in the generation of new knowledge, ideas and strategies within the field of architecture.
In 2018, this free series is focussed on the theme of In-terre-vention and seeks to highlight clever small to large-scale interventions that have an impact beyond their immediate site. Join us each Tuesday from 13 March to 15 May for these stimulating talks and learn more about our built environment.
Each lecture is livestreamed via Facebook and the SLQ website, you can also be part of the conversation on social media using #archilecture. Videos will be available for viewing online after the event on the APDL Vimeo Channel.
