A Night by the Fire with Laurie Nilsen

Laurie is a Manadandanji man from Roma in southern Queensland. He has a background in graphic arts, however, he mainly works in the medium of barbed-wire to address cultural, political and environmental concerns. He was a founding member of the Campfire Artists Group. Laurie won the 2007 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award for his 3D work and designed the concrete and timber relief on the north wall of kuril dhagun at State Library.
Laurie is a member of Queensland’s leading Indigenous arts collective proppaNOW.
