A Night by the Fire with Gordon Hookey

Gordon, a Waanyi man, explores political issues through his paintings. He uses iconic symbols in his exploration of the meeting points between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal cultures.

Gordon joined the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative in 1992 while completing his fine art degree. He exhibits nationally and has work in collections such as the National Gallery of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria and the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art.

Gordon is a member of Queensland’s leading Indigenous arts collective proppaNOW.
