50 Years and Counting

Lewis Bin Doraho

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 referendum that saw constitutional change and counting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian census for the first time. On the anniversary itself on Saturday 27 May, join us at SLQ for a day of commemorative activities including talks, exhibition tours and performances.

Plus, reflect on Queenslanders' evolving freedoms throughout history through our onsite exhibitions Freedom Then, Freedom Now (Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery, level 4) and Don't Just Count Us, Let Us Count! (kuril dhagun, level 1).
