Barambah Pottery

This event is now in the past.

Barambah <> Cherbourg <> Art <> Craft showcases the creative diversity and historic production of Barambah Pottery, a commercial venture established in the Aboriginal community of Cherbourg in 1969. The exhibition features more than 100 individual pieces of significant pottery — from elaborate vases to glazed goblets — created before Barambah Pottery was abruptly closed in 1987.

Learn about the creation process, including the locally sourced clay from Barambah Creek, and discover personal stories through historical photographs, the newly acquired McConnell kick wheel plan designed for Cherbourg, and the pottery pieces themselves.

In March and April, come along for workshops to help progress your own business as an Indigenous artists, and discover how to make your idea financially viable and profitable.

Co-curated with the Ration Shed Museum, a community-run historic cultural centre in the heart of Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire in the South Burnett Region, Queensland.
