George Martin as the 20th century Mozart

This event is now in the past.

The crossover of pop music and classical music in the digital future.

Join us to examine how the paths of classical (‘art’ music) and pop music both diverged and crossed over in the second half of the twentieth century. We will see how the breakdown of classical music’s traditional forms and harmonies took classical music to a new place where the aesthetic of classical and pop almost became indistinguishable. The music of Schoenberg, Stravinsky, the Beatles and Radiohead will show us just how extraordinary the 20th century was for music.

This session is part of the 2017 Southern Cross Soloists community lecture series.

Presented in partnership with Southern Cross Soloists as part of their 2017 concert season.
