As part of Live! Queensland band culture, this week we celebrate the diversity of cultures in our community.
At free morning performances, enjoy the sounds of local artists who draw on their heritage in their unique musical stylings.
From the sounds of the Spanish guitar, to traditional Asian instruments, be enthralled as the Knowledge Walk is filled with music of the world.
Mon 17 Jun: Nelson Mansilla
Nelson Mansilla is an outstanding guitarist and singer, captivating his audiences through his musicality and fine vocal textures.
His diverse repertoire ranges from traditional Latin American music, Spanish and English ballads to the more sophisticated fusion of Classical and Jazz.
Tue 18 Jun: Nicholas Ng
Nicholas Ng brings together the ancient and the modern in music through the use of traditional instruments and electronic sound. His native style is influenced by a sonic quest for his roots as an Australian composer of Chinese descent and often involves implementing old–world Asian modality in a contemporary ‘western’ context towards the creation of a fresh, unique and highly energized sound.
Wed 19 Jun: Johnny Lin
Hailing from Taipei, instrumental guitarist Johnnie Lin combines the traditional sounds of his hometown with his love of folk, rock, blues and jazz. This infusion of influences evokes a distinctly unusual and individual effect which echoes Asian flavours with modern western sounds.
Thu 20 Jun: Ravikesh Singh
Fijian born Ravikesh Sing is a versatile musician involved in numerous Indian Classical as well as contemporary fusion projects in Australia and India. He is also developing a fast growing reputation as a tabla teacher for beginning and intermediate students. His musical inspiration comes from his gurus and an eclectic musical taste.
