Where page meets stage...

It’s the ultimate duel between the fine traditions of performance and page poetry. Were words meant to fly? Is the pen mightier than the microphone?
Each event, emceed by David (Ghostboy) Stavanger, pairs an established page poet with a spoken word artist.

Both appear on stage simultaneously and share their work back and forth, poem for poem, sometimes responding to each other and other times taking the conversation in a different direction.

The first bout features acclaimed sonic wordsmith and performance artist queen, Pascalle Burton vs Queensland’s king of realism and contemporary haiku, Graham Nunn.

Ink will be shed...

Graham Nunn

Graham is a founding member of Brisbane's longest running poetry event, SpeedPoets. He blogs fiercely about all things poetry and music at Another Lost Shark [new window] and has published five collections of poetry, his most recent, Ocean Hearted (Another Lost Shark Publications, 2010). His debut CD, The Stillest Hour, was shortlisted for the Aural Text Award and he is currently working on a series of poems titled The First 30 to celebrate the birth of his son.

Pascalle has performed at many venues and festivals over the years, both in Australia and overseas. Her current projects include The Stress of Leisure, The Outlandish Watch project (with collaborators Nathan Shepherdson and David Stavanger) and her Golden Stapler Award nominated Lavender Room Zine-in-a-Matchbox series. Pascalle's debut poetry collection A Vast Laugh was released through Small Change Press in 2008. www.myspace.com/pascallemaiden [new window]
