Another David Jones experience

As twilight fades and the city’s lights ignite, master percussionist, David Jones harmonises with Brisbane’s pulse, setting the beat.

Australian virtuoso David Jones is described by peers and critics as one of the most captivating, innovative and musical performers in the world. Presented in the State Library of Queensland’s intimate and exquisite over-the-river Red Box, Jones transforms his drum kit into a mini-orchestra, percussive volcano and pulsating carnival, all in one, creating a mesmerising experience.

Using virtually anything that he can lay his hands on – sticks, brushes, mallets, fingers, elbows, violin bow, dish-mops, toys and brooms – Jones creates a spectacular universe of sounds that leads the audience on an odyssey through different cultures, eras, moods and styles. His innate sense of theatre is dramatic, humorous, surprising and powerful. A true maestro, David Jones has toured throughout the world, performing and recording in the rock, pop, jazz and classical genres.

"The level of virtuosity ... lies in that layer of the stratosphere called 'unbelievable'". Gail Brennan, Sydney Morning Herald.

“He is phenomenal, nobody else can do what David does with the drums - it's amazing.” James Morrison.
