Colombia Sounds Like This

Colombia Sounds Like This

This event is now in the past.

Explore the world of contemporary Latin music with a concert, talk and workshop by two of Colombia’s hottest music exports.

Colombia Sounds Like This showcases the very best contemporary Colombian music. Featuring Bogota based Frente Cumbiero and Brussels based La Chiva Gantiva, both bands, draw on Colombian rhythms of yesteryear, and are also international in their musical vision – reviving and reinterpreting folkloric forms with electronica, funk, rap, dub and DJ culture.

Explore the Afro-Caribbean sounds and tropical rhythms that make up the music in a pre-concert talk. Join the force behind Frente Cumbiero, DJ, musician, musicologist and record label owner Mario Galeano Toro, for a DJ workshop and demonstration. Then get your groove on for an unforgettable concert.

Presented by the Embassy of Colombia in Australia, SLQ, Griffith University and Pura Vida Roadshow with the support of Wallonie-Bruxelles International.
