A day of industry seminars and hands-on writing workshops for young writers, led by young authors and publishing professionals.

If you’re aged 15 to 25 and interested in the art of writing and the how-to of getting published in Australia, the Young Writers Conference will excite, inform and inspire you.

With sessions designed to expand your knowledge, accelerate your craft, and provide advice and support for getting ahead in the business of writing, this is your opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s finest young creators in an inclusive and interactive environment.

Professional editors and non-fiction writers will share insights into working with editors and the business of writing and selling your articles, essays, memoirs and columns.

Go back to basics with Laura Elvery and refresh your love of the literary arts. Discover the elements of all good writing and learn how to apply these to your stories.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re ready to submit your work for publication, planning your pathway is an important step in reaching your goals. Learn how to put your best foot forward when it comes to networking, forming a writers’ group, seeking feedback or dealing with rejection.

Join us for afternoon tea as we announce the winners of the 2018 State Library of Queensland Young Writers Award.
Featuring readings from past winners including Tee Indawongse and Shastra Deo.
