Harold (G)

Harold Blair

This event is now in the past.

In the 1940s Harold Blair came from a childhood on a Queensland mission reserve to become the first Indigenous opera singer. As a successful concert hall tenor, he was touted by the media as a model of assimilation. Harold's story is told through archival footage, sound recordings and interviews with those who were close to him.

This month’s SLiQ Flicks films take a look at the music of the traditional owners of this land, as part of Live! Queensland band culture, celebrating the soundtrack of Queensland through live performances, exhibitions and events.
