Breaking the Waves (R18+)
This event is now in the past.
Life in a profoundly religious and deeply repressed Scottish fishing community begins to unravel as local girl Bess falls in love with a Danish oil-rig worker. As their romance blossoms and terrible tragedy strikes, their cloistered world will be tested to its limits in this profound, heartbreaking tale.
This film is screened as part of our SLiQ flicks Sunday free film program.
This month we’ve selected films looking at life in the extremes. Even under the most challenging conditions, the human spirit has always found ways to adapt, and in the most arduous circumstances people will make a life for themselves.
