Cane Toad Times

Cane Toad Times

This event is now in the past.

In two bursts of creative mayhem, from 1977-1979 and again from 1983-1990, writers, cartoonists and political activists came together to produce the humorous magazine Cane Toad Times. Its obsessions included cane toads, Big Things, Bubbles Bathhouse and exposing Queensland corruption.

With protest march posters, original copies of Cane Toad Times, photographs, t-shirts and artwork by cartoonists including John Shakespeare, Matt Mawson, and Judy Dunn, the Cane Toad Times exhibition evokes the feelings of restlessness and discontent which inspired a generation to create their own medium to fight for what they believed in.
