Park your pram, pull up a pillow and explore the world of screen-stories where everyone, even Gnomeo and Juliet lives happily never after.
Film selections have been inspired by the Look! the art of Australian picture books today exhibition, on display in slq Gallery 2. Explore the exhibition and take part in all the Look! holiday fun activities on offer.

About the films
Chicken Little (PG)

When Chicken Little is hit on the head by an unidentified object and claims the sky is falling, he becomes the laughing-stock of his home town, Oakley Oaks. A year later, determined to redeem himself, Chicken Little joins the high school baseball team, hits a home run in a crucial game and becomes a hero. But then he's hit on the head once again - and reluctantly sets out to investigate what may be a real threat to the town.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid (PG)

Wimpy 8 year old Greg Heffley starts middle school with trepidation, warned of the many social dangers outlined by his would-be muso teenage brother Rod. But at least he finds a best friend in tubby outcast Rowley Jefferson and hopes to attract popularity with a series of ill-conceived plans, which older and wiser school paper editor Angie Steadman finds weird. Bullied and ignored, the two boys embark on several adventures including a nasty Halloween episode in which they attract unwelcome attention from three older bullies. But it's as school safety patrol officers that they stumble into the new world of responsibility and Greg makes a wrong choice, torpedoing his one true friendship.
Fantastic Mr Fox (PG)

Mr. Fox has a natural talent for getting out of scrapes in pursuit of chicken stealing - although after a near miss some years earlier when Mrs. Fox announced she was pregnant, he had vowed to stop living dangerously. But surrounded by temptation - a chicken farm, a squab farm and a cider distillery - he again succumbs to the thrill of the chase - and gets his family and some of their neighbouring wildlife, into heaps of trouble. The farmers, led by Franklin Bean, decide to put an end to him once and for all.
Gnomeo & Juliet (G)

Garden gnomes, Gnomeo and Juliet, live in the Montague and Capulet gardens in Stratford-on-Avon. The gnomes mirror their owners' hostilities. The Montague garden is blue, the Capulet's is red. When Gnomeo from the Blues meets Juliet from the Reds, they are instantly smitten, even though their love is forbidden. Meanwhile, there are other distractions, such as lawnmower races, a pink flamenco with one leg, a philosophical frog fountain and a mushroom sidekick.
Gulliver’s Travels (PG)

Newspaper mail room clerk Lemuel Gulliver pretends to be an aspiring travel writer, and is given a trial assignment to the Bermuda Triangle. Lemuel ends up on the island of Liliput. where he towers over its tiny citizens and makes a fool of himself, enjoying his newfound position at the centre of attention, including playing cupid to Princess Mary, daughter of King Theodore, and Horatio. Gulliver's position is enhanced even further when he leads his new friends in a daring battle against their long-time enemies. But when Gulliver loses it all and puts the Lilliputians in peril, he must find a way to undo the damage.
Happily N’ever After (G)

Rick works as the dishwasher for Prince Humperdink but pines for his secret love, the lovely [Cinder] Ella. When Ella's Wicked Stepmother Frieda finds her way to the cottage of the Wizard she decides to change the balance on the scales of Good and Evil, so she can to take control and change the endings of all fairy tales. The Wizard is on a golfing vacation, and his two assistants Munk and Mambo are easy to dispose of. Rick comes to the rescue, saves the day - and Ella - before living happily ever after.
Hoodwinked (G)

Red Riding Hood is delivering food to her sick grandmother at her cottage in the woods. When she arrives, the Big Bad Wolf is waiting, disguised as Granny. Just as he's about to eat Red, an axe-wielding woodsman bursts through the door and tied-up Granny leaps out of the closet. Frog detective Nicky Flippers is called to the scene and a series of flashbacks reveals each participant's version of events. As well as sorting out this incident, Flippers hopes to solve the mystery of The Goody Bandit in the course of questioning.
Horton Hears a Who (G)

When Horton the elephant hears a faint cry for help from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air, he is keen to save anyone who needs his help. He discovers that the speck of dust houses the entire city of Who-ville, which is home to the microscopic Whos, lead by the Mayor. While Horton is ridiculed by his animal friends at his determination to save the particle and its invisible inhabitants, the Mayor is facing problems of his own; he can understand the impending serious threat but the townsfolk do not, and cannot understand his reluctance to proceed with Who-ville's Centennial celebrations.
