Crowd Giving 2018

CrowdGiving2018

This event is now in the past.

Be part of an evening of persuasive pitches, philanthropy, and the power of collective funding all in support of State Library of Queensland.

Crowd Giving is a fundraising event which sees three State Library teams present compelling and impactful projects that need your support. Collectively, the crowd will decide which opportunity receives $10,000 funding to make it a reality. Every dollar you donate will go towards the winning project.

Hosted by the 2018 Emerging Philanthropist of the Year, Courtney Talbot, with support from Andrew Baker, Perpetual Private’s General Manager, Community & Social Investments, you will be guided on what to consider when choosing the project most worthy of your donation and how to make a meaningful contribution through philanthropy. Ask questions, spark friendly competition and participate in the Crowd Giving vote to fund the winning project.

Your $100 donation to Queensland Library Foundation is tax deductable and entitles you to attend the Crowd Giving event to cast your vote, making a direct impact to Queensland communities. Click here to make your donation or email foundation@slq.qld.gov.au and we'll contact you about your support.

The three 2018 Crowd Giving projects are:
Boost the career of an outstanding Queensland author
A vote for a Queensland Writers Fellowship will make a lasting impact on a mid-career author by affording them the time, space and income to focus on their craft.

Bring a childhood classic to life in language
With 2019 the International Year of Indigenous Language, State Library’s Public Library Programs team is seeking funding to translate a much-loved children’s classic into a variety of first languages for communities to share across Queensland.

Preserving Brisbane’s Jewish history
State Library recently acquired the Brisbane Synagogue Marriage Register (1868 –1946) documenting some of the earliest surviving records from the Jewish community in Queensland. Your vote will enable State Library to digitise this register and create an online showcase to recognise Brisbane’s proud Jewish history, making this culturally important chapter of our city’s story accessible to everyone.

Can’t make it on the night? A donation to Queensland Library Foundation is gratefully received and will directly support State Library’s projects.
