The Corner: Children's Picture Diaries

The Corner wild things

Come down to The Corner and play your way through our interactive environment carefully prepared for children from birth through to eight years. Through art making, facilitated play, sharing stories and creative conversations, children and families can interact with artists and each other to creatively engage in the serious business of play.

We have a new theme every few months with fresh games, toys and books. Our current theme is Children’s Picture Diaries which brings to life artwork form the collection by children from Cherbourg, Kelvin Grove, Ipswich and Poruma who wrote and painted about where they live, what they love and who they are.

A team of artist and designers have created the children’s Picture Diaries in The Corner using artworks from the State Library’s collection, books, toys, materials and other resources to create an inspiring place for children and families to create and play together.

The Corner is open daily from 10am to 3pm, and you can join us every morning between 10am until 12noon for a play date with purpose with one of our arts-workers.

Find children’s books for all ages in the Library Shop.
