The search is on for Queensland's best spoken word poet.
Speak, scream, howl, whisper or sing your original poem at the Mackay heat of the Australian Poetry Slam 2012 competition.
Heat contestants are given a microphone, a live audience and just two minutes to impress the judges (selected at random at each heat) with their original spoken word, poetry, hip hop, monologues and stories.
If you think you’ve got what it takes, sign up is 30 minutes before slam kick-off.

Want to sharpen your words before you hit the stage? Come along to a free slam workshop at Mackay City Library, Sat 14 Jul, 2pm-4pm. Bookings required, call 4961 9387.
