Dads Read family fun day

Australia Day Festival

This event is now in the past.

Grab your dad and head to the Queen Street Mall for loads of reading fun!

Join Kevin Sheedy, Rupert McCall, Tim Jackman and Getano Bann as we celebrate the importance of dads reading with their kids.

There’ll be sing-alongs, story time, craft stations and more.

Dads Read is a State Library of Queensland initiative, raising awareness of the importance and benefits of fathers and families reading with their children.

Reading with your children not only helps them to develop a love of reading, but also strengthens their literacy skills, models positive reading behaviour and builds children’s self-esteem around reading which is a fundamental life skill.

Check out the Dads Read website for loads of reading tips and tools, and suggestions on different ways you can engage your children in reading.
