Queensland heats
Queensland heats for the 2013 Australian Poetry Slam took place across the state from May through August. Competitors wowed the crowd and some won an opportunity to compete at the State Final in September! For competitors, heat sign-up opened 30 minutes before the event time. Start practising for next year's heats!
Be there on 20 September at 7pm as Queensland’s hottest slam poets battle it out, word-for-word in the spectacular State Final of the Australian Poetry Slam '13.
After months of slamming their words across the state, 18 finalists are polishing their prose, ready to let their words take flight as they vie for cash, prizes and the opportunity to compete in Sydney for the national title.
Finalists have been mustered from heats in Blackall, Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, Logan, Cairns, Goondiwindi and Moreton Bay for the final slam-off; one poet will walk away as Queensland Slam Champion.
