Australian Poetry Slam - Queensland

Prizes

Think you've got what it takes? Here's what's up for grabs…

Heats

The champion of each slam heat is awarded a $100 cash prize.

Both the heat champion and runner up will travel to Brisbane — with transport and accommodation covered — to compete in the Queensland State Finals at State Library on Friday 20 September.

States

The Queensland Champion will receive a $500 cash prize, with the runner-up receiving a $100 cash prize.

Both will be flown to Sydney, with accommodation covered, to compete at the Australian National Finals.

Nationals

When it all comes to a head at the National Finals, slammers will be competing for the ultimate writer's tour of Asia. The Australian Poetry Slam Champion for 2013 will mix it up with the literati; presenting panels, performances and workshops at the Bookworm International Literary Festival in China in March 2014 and at the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival in Bali in October 2014.

The total value of the two trips is up to $12,000 — not to mention the priceless professional development opportunities.
