History the winner at 2009 State Library of Queensland Awards in Q150 Year

Premier and Minister for the Arts Anna Bligh announced three leading historians and the University of Queensland as the winners of the prestigious State Library of Queensland (SLQ) Awards presented on Friday 5 June.

Unlike past gala dinners the format for the 2009 Awards was a cocktail event on the Queensland Terrace inspired by one of Australia's iconic music and dance venues, Cloudland. Herb Armstrong, grandson of the late great Louis Armstrong, performed the music and memories of his grandfather.

The SLQ Awards acknowledge and support the individuals and organisations that make vital contributions toward recording and documenting Queensland history, and increasing community awareness of and appreciation for our history and library services

The University of Queensland's Cyberschool program [new window] is actually making history, bridging the gap between high school and university, and providing students, particularly those disadvantaged by distance, with the opportunity to experience the university's extensive library resources and services.
