Awards and competitions

State Library of Queensland proudly hosts a number of awards and competitions, some open to all Queenslanders and some to specific client groups.

The black&write! Indigenous Writing and Editing Project consists of an annual Indigenous Writing Fellowship competition and Indigenous Editing Internships.

Queensland Memory AwardsQueensland Memory Awards
The Queensland Memory Awards are given annually by the Library Board of Queensland to recognise the achievement of excellence in library research and the contribution of new knowledge to Queensland’s history. Supported by the Queensland Library Foundation.

Music notesLetty Katts Award
The inaugural Letty Katts Award supports the research and documenting of Queensland’s music history. Applications for the 2016 award are now closed.

Hall of FameQueensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame
The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame recognises the outstanding achievements of businesses and business leaders that have contributed to Queensland’s economy, reputation and innovations.

Young Writers Award 2016Young Writers Award
Entries are now open for SLQ's annual Young Writers Award, a $2,000 short story competition open to Queenslanders aged 15 to 25. Submit your story by 5pm on Fri 30 Sep 2016.

Queensland Literary AwardsQueensland Literary Awards
The Queensland Literary Awards celebrate and promote outstanding Australian writers. The 2016 winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 5 October.
