The State Library of Queensland proudly hosts a number of awards and competitions, some open to all Queenslanders and some to specific client groups.

JOL fellowshipQueensland Memory Awards
The Queensland Memory Awards are given annually by the Library Board of Queensland to recognise the achievement of excellence in library research and the contribution of new knowledge to Queensland’s history. Supported by the Queensland Library Foundation.

Poetry Slam performerPoetry Slam
The Queensland section of the Australian Poetry Slam is hosted by the State Library. Workshops and heats are run throughout Queensland in July and August, with the final in September. The winner is flown to Sydney for the National Poetry Slam final.

The black&write! Indigenous Writing and Editing Project consists of an annual Indigenous Writing Fellowship competition and Indigenous Editing Mentorships. Expressions of Interest for the 2013 black&write! Indigenous Onscreen Trainee Editors program are sought and close on 19 July 2013
