Queensland Writers Centre
Queensland Writers Centre is located on Level 2 at The State Library of Queensland.
Queensland Writers Centre strives for more Australian writers to have sustainable careers, and to be read and enjoyed throughout the world. As an essential organisation for the Australian literary community, we encourage connection and creativity through the art and business of writing. We celebrate the importance of books and stories. We help Australian writers to create them and readers to engage with them.
We provide development and support to beginner writers through to established professionals in Australian writing and publishing. We do so through a year-long program of workshops, masterclasses, and seminars, through partnerships with festivals and organisations throughout the state, through our members-only monthly magazine, and a range of other services. We offer professional advice and industry knowledge to help you achieve your professional and creative writing goals.
QWC is a vibrant writing community that works to give you the support and opportunities you need to guide you through your writing journey. Our members are published authors, emerging writers, children’s authors and illustrators, journalists, editors, agents, publishers, poets, storytellers, playwrights, cultural producers, freelancers, teachers, academics and critics. Visit our website to find out more about us and the advantages of becoming a QWC member.
QWC is the publisher of The Australian Writer's Marketplace – Australia's leading resource of the writing and publishing industry. QWC is also home to if:book Australia, an innovative think-tank to foster engagement by Australian writers, readers and publishers with digital futures.
