The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is a translational research institute. Our research focuses on cancer, infectious diseases, mental health and a range of complex disorders. Working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, our aim is to improve health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies.


Did you know....
Drinking tea on a regular basis lowers your risk of developing ovarian cancer by 30 percent (40 percent if you drink green tea). But let it cool! Drinking hot tea (or coffee) within the first four minutes increases your chances of developing throat cancer by five times.
