The State Library of Queensland collection
Panoramic Queensland is an exhibition of panoramic photographs of Queensland in album and print formats from the State Library collection. The State Library of Queensland has over 80 panoramic photographs in its photographic collection, dating from the early 1860s. The views by professional and amateur photographers range from panoramas created through a series of photographs to wide format images that present a continuous scene.
Collectively, the State Library’s panoramic photographs represent the changing face of Queensland, its landscape, people and culture. The exhibition features a selection of original panoramas of the capital city of Brisbane, as well as regional views. It covers the period from the granting of Statehood through to Expo 88, a pivotal moment in the State’s recent history.
