The State Library of Queensland boasts a beautiful contemporary design and a remarkable array of galleries and striking indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for creating special events and memorable meetings.

As an events space The State Library of Queensland sets a very high benchmark for unique venues and can cater for cocktail parties, banquets and meetings and conferences ranging from 14 to 300 guests. For the meeting planner life gets even easier with the Library offering assistance through our Venue Hire Unit.

Room capacities

The rooms available for hire [new window pdficon.gif 26 kb] vary in capacity from 4 to 264 people, and are available on every floor of the new library building.

Free venues for study and community groups

To cater for study and community groups, the State Library has incorporated a range of smaller meeting rooms within our library collection areas. These rooms range in capacity from four to six people, and are available free of charge for up to two hours.

Venues for hire

Ranging in size from 10 people to 264 people, the State Library's venue hire facilities offer a range of meeting rooms and auditoriums for your next meeting, conference or product launch. Other spaces include the slq Boardroom overlooking the city and the Brisbane River, a dedicated computer training room, the spectacular Queensland Terrace, and open air River Decks located directly on the Brisbane River.
