Collection preservation
The State Library of Queensland is responsible for the preservation and protection of reference and research collections including Queensland's documentary heritage. Collections include:
- Antiquarian books
- Art works
- Photographic media
- Maps
- Manuscripts and records
- Audio, motion picture and digital media.
The goal of our preservation policy is to preserve the collection so that items can be accessed and used by future generations - by historians, researchers, members of the public and the media.
What we do
Our expert preservation staff use specialised techniques to maintain, preserve, and make accessible a range of items according to their use and significance. As well as preserving our own collection, we offer advice and services to Queensland's regional libraries, other organisations and members of the public.
