How do I register for the course?

  1. Click on the Register link in the green box in the top right corner of the Looking @2.0 web page to go to the Register and Log In page.
  2. Read the instructions about creating a new account. Click on Create new account and fill out the form.
  3. Once submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to you. You will need to click on the link in your email to confirm your registration and enter the course.  This only happens the first time.
  4. Once your registration is confirmed you can login with your User Name and Password at any time from the Looking @2.0 web page.

Once you have registered for the course you will have access to all the modules and will need to enrol in each module you choose to do.

Please also complete the pre course survey before you get started. This is a requirement if you are a Queensland resident and wish to be eligible for the prize draw.

What do I do if I can't remember my username and/or password?

On the Register / Login page click on the button labelled Yes help me log in. Then follow the prompts to get a new password sent to your email. To help you understand this process, read these detailed instructions [new window Document in PDF format 97kb] 

What is the process for completing the program?

  1. Decide which modules you want to do from the list on the Looking @2.0 web page 
  2. Register (see instructions above) 
  3. Complete the pre-course survey
  4. Click on the title of the module you want to complete and enrol. 
  5. Read the information for each topic and complete as many activities as you can.
  6. Repeat the process from 5 - 7 with all the other modules you have chosen.
  7. Complete the post-course survey 

How do I access the modules?

When you first register in the Looking @2.0 course, and confirm it, you are taken to the Looking @2.0 Home page. This will list the modules that are available. To access a module you will need to enrol by:

You will now be enrolled in that module and will be able to access it at any time.

If you return to the Home page after completing that module or the next time you log in to the course, you will see that only the module you’ve enrolled in is showing in the Courses list. You will need to:

Do I have to do all the modules?

No. You can do as many or as few modules as you wish.

For how long will the modules be available?

The new and updated modules will be available from 27th April to 30th October 2011. This means that you can login with your Username and Password any time you choose between those dates.

Is there someone who can help me with the modules?

I have completed the modules I’m interested in but I want to know more. Are there any other courses available that go a bit deeper?

Yes. The State Library of Queensland and some public libraries have courses available from time to time. Check the Upcoming Events found on each module, or the State Library training page or your local public library.

To be eligible for the prize draws do I have to get everything correct in the quizzes?

No. However, you must complete all the quiz(s) for your chosen module(s).

Why do I have to complete both the surveys to be eligible for the major prize draws?

Your personal details will only be seen by the course administrators and will be deleted once the official course time is over.

What is a strong password?

A strong password is one which is difficult to guess. It usually consists of more than 8 characters consisting of a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.

What happens if I get a virus on my computer when I am looking at one of the websites?

Please ensure your virus protection software is up to date. If you don’t have anti-virus installed and use Windows Vista or XP, there are several available for free. How can I tell what are ads and what is content on a web page?
 
Refer to these examples [new window]. They may assist you in making the correct judgement.

What are cookies and how do I enable them?

According to Wikipedia, cookies may be used to remember the information about the user who has visited a website in order to show relevant content in the future. For example a web server may send a cookie containing the username last used to log in to a web site so that it may be filled in for future visits. See the full article [new window].
If you are being asked to accept cookies when you log in to the course just click on the Accept option. Where it says (Cookies must be enabled in your browser) just above the login boxes, click on the question mark next to it. This will display information on why cookies need to be enabled to use Moodle.

If you haven't enabled cookies in your browser try the following:

If you use Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on Tools, then Internet Options, then click on the Privacy tab
  3. To accept all cookies ensure the sliding scale is at the bottom.
  4. Click on Apply and OK

If you use Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Click on Tools, then Options, then Privacy
  3. Tick the boxes next to ‘Accept cookies from sites’ and “Accept third party cookies’
  4. From the drop down screen next to ‘Keep until’ choose ‘they expire’. (To see what cookies you have from sites and to remove any click on ‘Show cookies’. However if you remove any you may find you are not able to use some sites.)
  5. Click on OK.

I have slow speed internet. Can I still do the course?

Yes. The videos are an optional extra. The written information and activities cover all the basics and you can complete the quizzes and be eligible for the prizes with just that information. If you want to watch the videos and have a slow internet connection YouTube's ‘Watching videos on dial-up' [new window] may help.
