The State Library of Queensland holds a stimulating and diverse range of exhibition material in kit form for loan to public libraries and other organisations. These display kits are photograph-based and deal with a wide range of topics relating to Queensland and its history, such as social history, wartime romances and children’s art.

Queensland Wartime Romances
Many who have lived through times of war have spoken of the passionate intensity they experienced when finding love amid the chaos and confusion. This kit exhibition focuses on Queensland wedding photographs from the WWI and WWII eras. It features reproductions of documents, images and letters from the John Oxley Library’s Charles Rowland Williams Papers telling the tragic story of “Dambuster” and Flying Officer Charles Rowland Williams, and his love for fiancé Gwendoline (Bobbie) Parfitt.

In this moving exhibition, the history of Indigenous child removal is portrayed through the records and documents held in Queensland collecting institutions and the personal stories of five Aboriginal Queenslanders.
Dr Barbara Piscitelli AM Children’s Art Archive
The Dr Barbara Piscitelli AM Children’s Art Archive is a remarkable collection of children’s art dating from 1990. The collection includes work by children across Queensland as well as material from Vietnam and China. This kit exhibition displays a selection of works from the communities of Erub and Poruma in the Torres Strait, Hope Vale in Cape York and Cherbourg in South East Queensland.
Panoramic Queensland
The panoramic photographs, from the State Library’s John Oxley Library collection, represent the changing face of Queensland, its landscape, people and culture.
It features original panoramas of Brisbane, and regional views, covering the period from the granting of Statehood through to Expo 88, a pivotal moment in the State’s recent history.
From ship to shore: excerpts from shipboard diaries 1863-1947
From Ship to Shore is an exhibition of stories from shipboard diaries, dating back to the 1800s, from the State Library of Queensland’s John Oxley Library collection.
Through the pages of these notebooks and journals, we are able to follow the lives and activities of men and women of different backgrounds, occupations and classes. We can take a glimpse of life above and below deck from the beginning of the Age of Sail to the influx of post-World War II migrants into Australia.
Laura: festival in focus
Laura: festival in focus is a travelling exhibition of photographs from Cape York’s Laura Aboriginal Dance Festival from the State Library of Queensland’s collection.
In 30 years, this biennial event of song, dance, ceremony and performance has become on Australia’s largest gatherings of Indigenous people.
