Current news

Library Pressdisplay provides the cover to cover newspaper in full colour for over 2000 Australian and international titles for the latest 45-90 days. Issues can be searched or browsed

ANZ Reference Centre provides current and back issues (back to the late 1990s) of approximately 400 Australian and New Zealand newspapers , including all Queensland regionals. The images, advertisements and public notices are not included. 

Hint: When searching ANZ Reference Centre, to limit your search to newspapers, select Advanced Search, then set the Publication type to Newspaper.

Historical news

Australian and Queensland newspapers - 1803 – 1954. Includes over 40 Queensland newspapers  More recent years are still within copyright and will be made available when copyright lapses.

British newspapers

Times digital archive - 1785-2006. 

19th century British newspapers  - 48 fulltext titles.

Microfilm newspapers

The State Library also has very long runs of Australian newspapers on microfilm which are available for use on Level 3 of the Southbank building. We also have the New York times on microfilm. Use the New York Times Archive online to identify articles of interest.
