Exploring design problems
Select a story from Magnificent Makers and record a sketch of an artefact or idea from the original maker:
Annotate your sketch with reference to the following design factors:
User-centred design: what was the problem that needed to be solved? What was the reason for the product or ideas? Who was the audience? What is the design area in which this solution was produced?
Elements and principles of design: how do the elements and principles of design influence the solution?
Technologies: what were the tools, processes and skills employed to produce this solution?
Re-imagine this same idea in a modern context, incorporating innovative technologies and materials. You may need to decide upon a current or futuristic problem or opportunity that suits the approach of your Maker. Sketch and annotate your ideas.
