Reading together

Reading aloud to your child from babyhood is the single most important activity you can do to help your child develop the skills they will need to learn to read and write. The development of the brain is very rapid in the early years, and research shows that just 20 minutes a day reading aloud to your child helps prepare them for school. Early engagement of children in learning opportunities builds basic skills, and creates a strong foundation for success and well-being later in life. It helps children to listen, to develop their imagination and language development and puts in place the building blocks for literacy.
