Live! in Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery | open daily 10am - 5pm | Level 4 | Free
Do you remember the first time you heard your favourite band? Was it on the radio? In the park? What was it that drew you in? Perhaps it was the feeling it gave you to see people engaged in an activity they loved. Community music making is a part of every society. Bands can provide a strong sense of identity for both players and supporters. Community bands are social units, created by social demand and serving social ends. Live! in Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery considers the role and development of bands in Queensland communities from the 1850s to now through photographs, sheet music, posters and clothing.
