The State Library of Queensland provides material that will help students from upper primary to undergraduate level.
yourtutor
yourtutor [new window] is a free, live, online homework help service for grades 4 to 12. The service is available Monday to Friday, 4-8pm - for instant, one-on-one assistance with maths, English, science, research and study skills from friendly, helpful tutors. The service is available to all Queensland public library members. Online support [new window] is available if you are having trouble using yourtutor.
Finding what you want
Friendly reference assistance is available at the Information Desk on Level 2 of the South Bank building.
One Search (catalogue)
Use One Search to find books, magazines, maps, music, videos and newspapers, and then request them using your e-services card or your Queensland public library membership.
- The Children’s Literature Research Collection contains high quality examples of books for children and young people with an emphasis on award winning titles.
- The John Oxley Library, part of the State Library's heritage collections, holds an important collection of juvenile literature published by Queensland authors and a collection of historic Queensland school readers.
The Collections
- The State Reference Library collections, on Levels 2 and 3, hold a range of resources, including books, journals and videos or DVDs, covering history, art, music, literature, science, social issues and more.
- The John Oxley Library, part of the State Library's Heritage Collections on Level 4, holds a wide range of material that documents the history of Queensland including photographs, original records, newspaper cuttings and ephemera files, as well as books, journals, maps and historical objects such as badges, trophies and swords.
- The Australian Library of Art, also part of the Heritage Collections, houses a variety of art collections including Artists' Books. You can view some of the Artists' books online and find resources for teachers and students.
Online resources
- Find articles for your assignments in our online databases. You can access the databases available Queensland wide from your home computer by using your e-services card or Queensland Public Library account.
- Use NetLinks to find information on your topic easily. This is an annotated subject list of high quality websites selected by our library staff and includes homework help websites.
