Nancy Pearl, America's rock star librarian
It sounds like a contradiction but Nancy Pearl [new window] is a celebrity librarian. In fact, she’s such a big celebrity in the US that the Nancy Pearl Librarian action figure, complete with ‘amazing push-button shushing action’ outsells many other dolls on toy store shelves. She's also the author of the best-selling Book Lust and More Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood Moment and Reason.
Nancy Pearl provided two entertaining and moving talks at the State Library of Queensland.
