List owner settings

These settings are provided to help Queensland public library list owners manage their lists using the Lyris list management software provided by the State Library of Queensland.

List owners must comply with the compulsory settings. Where the setting status is "optional" or "recommended", list owners should read the Lyris help [new window http://www.lyris.com/help/lm_help/9.0/] to better make an informed decision.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, or you just want to discuss the list administration settings, please do not hesitate to contact the State Library.

To access your list:

The following settings are compulsory:

Basic information

Basics: List name 

Reports: Monthly: send a detailed monthly report on the 1st of the month

Delivery reports: Do not email delivery reports to list admins

New subscriber policy

Confirmation  Yes (unless list owner is adding members) 

Security:  private - administrator must approve new members  (unless list owner is adding members)

Allow joining by email:  Allow membership requests by email and through the web (unless list owner is adding members)

Email submitted content

Reject email submissions:   No

Only admins can send:  No (except for announcement lists)

Discussion forum interface  
Message reading

Enable archive searching: yes 

Make available as a newsgroup: no

Discussion group features  
Security

Reject posts from non-members: Yes, only members are allowed to contribute to the list

Security of member list: Allow only members to obtain the member listing 

Message rejection rules
Blanks

Allow blank subject: no

Allow blank body: no  

Same message rules

Allow duplicate postings:  yes

Allow cross-posting:  yes

Cross-postings and duplicates: Make sure that multiple copies of cross-postings are removed 

Etiquette Message size limit:  500 kb
