The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) [new window] is the professional association for the library and information sector in Australia. The Association works closely with educators, employers and practitioners, to ensure high-quality educational programs are available. ALIA provides access to a broad range of training and development opportunities relevant to everyone working in the sector.
Diploma of Local Government Administration [new window
160 kb] - The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) will again be offering the Diploma of Library and Cultural Services in 2010. The course is specifically aimed at staff working in Local Government public libraries and was developed by LGAQ in partnership with the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) and is a key strategy of Expanding Horizons: positioning public libraries for the future, the 4 year action plan for Queensland’s public libraries, co-developed by LGAG, the State Library of Queensland and the Queensland Public Libraries Association (QPLA).
LGAQ is an accredited training provider (RTO) that provides targeted training modules to thousands of local government employees annually. The Diploma level course is a formal qualification in Local Government with the focus is on recognising the knowledge and skills of library staff, enabling staff working in local government libraries to enhance their own future and that of their library service.
