Interlibrary loans

Public Library Development (PLD) provides interlibrary loans to Queensland public libraries and is currently providing access to a decentralised interlibrary loans model using a union catalogue.

Country Lending Service Manual - Requests - The Public Library Development operates an extensive request system which enables you to draw on more than 900,000 items held in the PLD network as well as other collections within Queensland and the other states. By making use of this system, you can greatly enhance the service you provide for your readers.

Public Library Development (PLD) loans manual for Independent Libraries - This manual has been produced for operational public library staff utilising the services and resources provided by the Public Library Development to Queensland Independent Local Government Library Services.

State Library of Queensland Lending Policy - Loans to libraries - [new window Document in PDF format 45 kb]. The State Library of Queensland is the premier reference library for all Queenslanders. Statewide access to the collections is facilitated through a partnership with a network of public libraries located throughout the state of Queensland. This policy sets out the borrowing arrangements between the State Library and these public libraries.

State Library of Queensland catalogues - [new window] The State Library provides a number of collections (books, magazines, maps, audiovisual material, computer files, music scores, etc.) to members of the public in various venues throughout in Brisbane, Queensland. The general collection covers all areas of human knowledge, and is augmented by the various specialist collections.

Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing - ILRS Code [new window] - The Interlibrary Resource Sharing (ILRS) Code is designed to support a multi-faceted approach to resource sharing based on co-operation and fairness between libraries and respect for the moral and intellectual rights of creators and publishers.

Australian Libraries Gateway [new window] Hosted by the National Library of Australia, you can use this tool to locate libraries with Web-based catalogues. Use the 'For Libraries' option and indicate in the advances search option that you require libraries with a link to an online catalogue.

Benchmarking Study Report [new window] In the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Benchmarking Study, carried out in 2001, one of the aims was to identify the characteristics of high performing Inter Library Loan / Document Delivery operations. Check out the findings.

Libraries Australia [new window] (formally Kinetica) provides access to the national database of material held in Australian libraries. You can search for any item and locate which library in Australia holds it.
