Design forum participants wound down with drinks and an opportunity for a guided tour of State Library's Asia Pacific Design Library.

The Library Tour

On Friday, 30 September 2011 design forum participants boarded a bus to visit four diverse examples of recent library design excellence in Brisbane, both new and refurbished buildings.

QUT Kelvin Grove
A 2011 upgrade of existing building, creating a dramatically improved entrance, reorienting shelving to improve natural lighting and bringing bright colour to a series of zoned spaces.

A 2011 renovation of a 1967 building adding a reading lounge, additional meeting room kitchenette, toilets and carer's room and covered deck.

An award winning multipurpose building combing library, e-learning, IT, academic support, student support, and archives, opened in 2010.

Fairfield - Brisbane City Council
The library reopened on 4 June 2011 with a complete refit after closure as a result of extensive flood damage in January 2011.
