AskAboutIreland and the Cultural Heritage Project is an initiative of public libraries together with local museums and archives in the digitisation and online publication of the original, the unusual and the unique material from their local studies' collections to create a national Internet resource for culture. The participating organisations have selected material of particular public interest from their holdings within a variety of common topics ranging from sport, transport and architecture to flora and fauna and Irish writers. The material is then digitised (scanned, digitally photographed, recorded etc.) and set in a narrative context. Content is added on an ongoing basis.
Belfast City Council burial records [new window]
Search for burial records in Belfast from 1869 onwards. Around 360,000 records are available relating to Belfast City Cemetery - records from 1869 (including the Jewish, public and Glenalina extension sections); Roselawn Cemetery - records from 1954; and Dundonald Cemetery - records from 1905.

Irish Genealogy [new window]
Contains church records for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kerry, which includes parishes in western and north-western areas of County Cork, and Church of Ireland records of Dublin City, County Kerry and County Carlow. The church records for a subset of the Roman Catholic parishes in Dublin City and a subset of the Roman Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Cork and Ross are also available as are a small number of Presbyterian records. In addition to these records, digital images of the originals of these church records are also available to view.

The National Archives holds the records of the modern Irish state which document its historical evolution and the creation of its national identity. The State Library hold the records on microfilm.
