Using the South Bank collections

Items in the State Library of Queensland's South Bank collections can be located in several ways:

State Library South Bank Collections catalogue
Search this catalogue to find published books, magazines, newspapers, music, maps, DVDs, microfilms, microfiche and some digitised collections. This catalogue also includes Queensland history materials which are held in the John Oxley Library. Help with searching is also available online.

Indexes and databases
Access the State Library indexes and databases to find articles in newspapers and journals. The catalogue also provides links to some online journals and electronic publications. You can also access these offsite using your e-services card or your Queensland public library card.

Please ask us for help finding material such as ephemera (eg exhibition programs), original art works, oral histories, archival material, and photographs and sheet music awaiting cataloguing.

Requesting material

Some South Bank collections are housed in staff-only areas. We will retrieve the items you wish to use.

E-services members can request collection material from onsite or offsite using our catalogues. Click on the 'Available' link in the item record and use your e-services card details to login (select the link above the title information). Items will be brought to delivery points on levels 3 and 4 of the State Library's South Bank building, depending on the type of material requested.

You may also use our Telephone Reference Service (+61 7 38407810) to request items in advance of your visit. Check for delivery times and pick-up location of your order.
Note that material must be used within the State Library premises at South Bank.
