Resources

Explore our flood collections

Queensland floods have been a key collection focus for SLQ's John Oxley Library since 2011. Recent collecting initiatives have built on an existing and substantial collection of books, reports, maps, film footage, ephemera and an extensive collection of images which document the history of Queensland flood events over 170 years and provide a valuable research record.

Much of the material collected in the wake of the 2010-11 floods is in electronic format. The 2010-11 Queensland Floods collection is available in Australia's collaborative web archive, Pandora. Websites, blog stories and twitter streams in this collection include information published by commonwealth, state and local governments, politicians, affected businesses, organisations and industries. Content ranges from personal accounts of flood experiences to information about flood relief initiatives, satellite imagery and hydrology reports.

Find items in the collection via our One Search catalogue, or use your e-services card to browse collections onsite or offsite.

Donate your own flood-related material

We are looking to fill identified collection gaps in relation to previous disasters — and the 1974 floods are an example. We welcome donations — both published and unpublished — which contribute to the documentary history of Queensland's floods.
