In the 1890s, Irish-born orphan Daisy Bates reinvented herself from governess to heiress to anthropologist, and put Aboriginal culture on the map with her study of language and kinship ties. Susanna is an international author and her 14 books have won her literary awards in Ireland and Britain, an Order of Australia for services to literature and a Winston Churchill Fellowship.
