Borobi and his friends

Borobi and his friends The Kombumerri Corporation for Culture published Borobi and his Friends as an introduction to the Yugambeh language. The book features the birds and animals found in the local rainforest areas of the Gold Coast hinterland. The book is read by Axel Best. The Yugambeh language area extends from the coastline west to Beaudesert and from the Logan River at Beenleigh, south to the Tweed.
Many years of research and documentation by community members, Ysola Best and Patricia O’Connor  have ensured that the Yugambeh language, which was once declared ‘lost’, is alive today. The Kombumerri Corporation has produced a dictionary of the Yugambeh language, and a map showing the lands of the eight local clan groups as well as other books and exhibitions.

The Kombumerri Corporation for Culture is based at the Yugambeh Museum Language and Heritage Research Centre,
Corner of Martens St and Plantation Rd, Beenleigh, 4207 QLD.
