Drawn to the word: writers and artists
Drawn to the word: writers and artists featured in the Talbot Family Treasures Wall, Level 4, State Library of Queensland from 21 July - 25 November 2007.
Drawn to the word: writers and artists is drawn from the State Library of Queensland's History and Art of the Book Collection. Forming part of the Australian Library of Art, this collection showcases and preserves ‘rare and fine books that reflect the art, craft, history and impact of the printed book’.
While not a comprehensive survey of the History and Art of the Book Collection, Drawn to the word: writers and artists demonstrates the development of books as tools of communication and objects of beauty. Many of these books represent fruitful collaborations between artists and writers, and some point to the valuable contributions artists have made to the evolution of the book form.
