Thomas Turnbull Woodrow's Grocery Store was established around 1865 in Bazaar Street. The Maryborough Chronicle had repeatedly drawn public attention:
"to the dangerously ignitable condition of the densely packed mass of wooden buildings on the north side of Kent Street abutting on the bridge and embankment between Bazaar and Adelaide Streets."
Woodrow's grocery shop was near the conflagration which destroyed twelve business premises in Maryborough in the early hours of February 3rd 1876, but:
"Mr T.T. Woodrow's premises escaped as by a miracle ... Mr Woodrow's principal loss will be from damage sustained in the removal of his goods".
Maryborough Chronicle, 4 February 1876
The image above shows a later three storeyed building, designed by Willoughby Powell in 1883.
