New Market Hotel, Brisbane

New Market Hotel, Brisbane, ca. 1882
[John Oxley Library, neg. no. 67925]
This hotel on the corner of Ann and Roma Streets was erected ca 1881. It was often confused with the 'Newmarket Hotel' in the Brisbane suburb of that name. Extensive alterations were made around 1915 when it was renamed the 'Windsor Hotel'. The building was demolished in 1970 for the construction of the 'Crest International Hotel'.
