Old Government House, Brisbane

In 1860 construction began on this, the new official residence for the Governor of Queensland, and in 1862 Sir George Ferguson Bowen took up residence. It was built from sandstone, with the rear section in tuff. In 1910 it became the first premises for the University of Queensland, with the University eventually moving to St.Lucia. Old Government House now stands within the grounds of the Queensland University of Technology.
