Culture Love Children's Workshop - Mabuiag Island, May 2010
This digital story retells Amipuru, one of the myths recorded in Margaret Lawrie's, Myths and Legends of Torres Strait. Partnering with the Torres Strait Island Regional Council's Indigenous Knowledge Centre (IKC) at Mabuiag Island, children were inspired to retell Amipuru during literacy through the arts, writer and illustrator workshops in 2008. During the Mabuiag IKC's culture love children's language workshop in April 2010, the children used clay and sculpture, combining these images with their retelling of the Amipuru story in Kalaw Lagaw Ya.
